Ministry of Industry and Trade recently reported that in the month of August, Vietnamese textile and apparel industry has seen a sharp rise in the exports of sleepwear and kimono, both in terms of volume and value.
During the month, exports of the sleepwear rose by 162 percent over previous month and 130 percent over same period last year.
On the other hand, export of kimono witnessed a sky rocked growth at 368 percent and 485 percent in comparison with July and similar period 2007, respectively.
Vietnam's textile and garment exports fetched US $916 million in August 2008, registering a surge of 15.45 percent year-on-year and climbed to $6.1 billion during the first eight months, up by 19.06 percent over similar period previous year.
