The General Department of Statistics recently released a report which shows that Vietnamese jean trousers exports turnover suffered a strong decline in August, this year.
During the month, export of this particular apparel decreased sharply by 31.5 and 20.6 percent, in terms of both value and volume, compared to previous month. The export volume in August was 560,000 units worth US $4.8 million.
However these figures showcased a rise of 18 and 24.2 percent respectively over August 2007.
During the first 8 months of ongoing year, Vietnam exported 3.3 million units to generate $25.6 million, up 45.9 percent in volume and 47 percent in value over similar period previous year.
To the Japanese market, Vietnam supplied around 1.1 million units worth $11.3 million, showcasing a surge of 18.9 percent in volume and 12.7 percent in value year-on-year. This market accounted for 44.2 percent of the total export turnover of this product.
Notably, Korean market demonstrated an outstanding growth of 993 percent in volume with 100,000 units and 597 percent in value for $892,000. The country exported around 220,900 units to Taiwan of $2.33 million, up 5.6 percent in value but decreasing 20.5 percent in quantity.
The export of jean trousers to US market soared by 176.8 percent in quantity and 208.3 percent in value over same period last year. The export volume reached 1.43 million units worth $9.7 million.
The average export price of jean trousers stood at $7.75 per unit, during this period, showcasing a slight increase of 0.8 percent on-year.
