Charming Shoppes Inc announced that Carol L. Williams has been appointed President of the Company's Catherines Plus Sizes brand, and Jeffrey A. Elliott has been appointed President of Charming Outlets. Both appointments are effective immediately.

Carol Williams has served in various retail-industry executive and merchandising positions over the past three decades. Most recently, she served as the President of May Department Stores International from 2002 through 2006.

She was also the President and Chief Executive Officer of Jacobson Stores Inc, following executive leadership and merchandising positions at Saks Inc, Edison Brothers Inc, and Limited Stores. In her role at Catherines, Carol will report to Alan Rosskamm, Interim Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Charming Shoppes, Inc.

Additionally, Jeff Elliott has been appointed President of the Charming Outlets division, which includes the Lane Bryant Outlet and Petite Sophisticate Outlet retail chains. Since 2006, Jeff has served Charming Shoppes as Senior Vice President and General Merchandise Manager of Charming Outlets.

Previously, he worked with Lane Bryant as Vice President and General Merchandise Manager of Casual Sportswear, and, earlier in his career, was a buyer at Fashion Bug. Jeff's retail apparel merchandising expertise of more than 25 years includes positions with The May Company, Sears, Carson Pirie Scott and Montgomery Ward. In this leadership role, Jeff will report to Joe Baron, Chief Operating Officer.

Alan Rosskamm, commented, "We are extremely pleased to welcome Carol Williams as the President of our Catherines brand. Her experience in women's specialty apparel as a leader and entrepreneur with a customer-centric focus makes her an important addition to the Charming Shoppes team.

It is also with great pleasure that we have announced the promotion of Jeff Elliott as the President of our Charming Outlets division. Jeff has done a tremendous job with the launch and development of our outlets business, and we congratulate him on his accomplishments."

Rosskamm continued, "As the Interim Chief Executive Officer of Charming Shoppes, my priorities have included the recruitment of experienced and empowered brand leaders, which we have now completed.

In July, Brian Woolf joined our organization as the President of our Lane Bryant brand, and last month, Jay Levitt accepted the position of President at our Fashion Bug brand. We are pleased to have our new brand leadership team in place, and look forward to each of their contributions to Charming Shoppes."
