Three years on and we can see just how significant the drive and commitment from our entire staff has been to transform FAST RETAILING into a global group company with a renewed venture spirit. This is the locomotive to fuel new growth for our company, and over the past year it has proved an undeniable success.

FAST RETAILING enjoyed a strong business performance in the year to August 2008 with both revenue and profit rising significantly, largely on the back of favorable results at UNIQLO Japan. Our designers and merchandisers took customer needs fully on board and incorporated them into product development. That led to a significant breakthrough for our HEAT TECH Innerwear range and the huge success of our Bra Top products. Over the past year, we feel that customer support and respect for UNIQLO materials and products has increased markedly.

UNIQLO International is now operating in the UK, USA, China, South Korea and France. The business segment overall posted its first profit this year. The success of our New York global flagship store has proved one of the main reasons for this financial performance, and has also helped UNIQLO earn recognition as a global player. Another key factor is that customers around the world now value and respect UNIQLO's high quality basic casual clothes.

We have begun simultaneous global advertising activities to demonstrate the merit of UNIQLO's unique HEAT TECH functional materials, starting with our HEAT TECH Global Marketing in winter 2008. Today, national borders have all but disappeared from the world market, and information can spread and be spread around the entire world in an instant. Our future challenge is to transform UNIQLO itself into a true global operation, aiming for nothing less than the world's top slot.

Our Japan Apparel firm CABIN CO LTD turned a profit in the year to August 2008. In addition, we merged three of the segment's other companies, low-cost casual clothing developer G.U. CO LTD, and footwear retailers ONEZONE CORPORPATION and VIEWCOMPANY CO LTD, to form GOV RETAILING CO LTD. in September 2008, and we are now looking forward to a swift shift into the black there. But we are not just looking to reform their existing operations. Instead, by utilizing UNIQLO's wealth of experience, knowledge and high quality personnel, we are looking to create entirely new footwear and apparel businesses that could develop into our second and third UNIQLO-type successes.

Our future goal is to become one of the world's most respected, quality global companies. We will further polish and refine our FAST RETAILING and UNIQLO businesses and strive to transform each and every one of the FAST RETAILING Group operations into world-class companies. Our mission is to become a single, united worldwide corporate group with its origins in Japan and with quality management the envy of the world.
