Industry standards for exports of 'wedding dresses'

China set up the first industry national standards for export quality of “wedding dress” in October 2008. The newly promulgated industry standards of "wedding dress and full dress” provide comprehensive requirements of wedding dress and full dress production, covering all technical features about test methods, classification rules, signs, packaging, transport and storage.
At the same time, the standards have made specific provisions on color fastness, basic safety technical requirements, fibre components and content of wedding dress as well as fabrics suitable for stitching the wedding dress.
The standards take into account not only the quality, but also safety and comfort for wearing. As per the standards, formaldehyde content of wedding dress and dress products should not be more than 75 milligrams per kilogram and the pH value of wedding dress and full dress should be controlled between 4.0-7.5. The dress should also not contain any "biodegradable aromatic amines".
At the same time, the standards have made specific provisions on color fastness, basic safety technical requirements, fibre components and content of wedding dress as well as fabrics suitable for stitching the wedding dress.
