Filip to debut ContraBrand lifestyle clothing line at ASR

Andre Filip, an entrepreneur with visionary style and an intuitive grasp of cutting-edge trends, is set to launch an urban-meets-iconic take on clothing directed at the action sports audience at this year's Action Sports Retailer (ASR) trade show event. Showcasing to leading retailers from around the world, Filip will debut his ContraBrand lifestyle clothing line, a rebellious counterpart to the established surf/skate/snow/motocross culture, on Jan. 22-24 in San Diego, Calif., at Booth No 1802.

“ContraBrand speaks to consumers who want to define themselves within a non-conformist niche. The brand resonates with an alternative audience tired of seeing the shirt on their back – on everyone else's back,” says Filip, who is also CEO of ELA Advertising, Filip Entertainment and Filip Vodka. “ContraBrand apparel says 'this is me, take it or leave it.' It's not just about the apparel; it's about the attitude that follows.”

The ContraBrand line, which takes inspiration from the surf/skate/snow/motocross lifestyle, is a defiant take on existing action sports style. Long- and short-sleeved T-shirts, tank tops and thermals will be a staple of the line initially, with accessories, fleeces and cut-and-sew bodies figuring in later. ContraBrand wearers, likely young men and girls aged 14 to 24, will pick up on the company's subtle anti-establishment feel, while appreciating the apparel's ability to speak to their unique desires to be set apart from the mainstream.

The line is the first for Filip, who has collaborated with recognized fashion designer and former Top 10 world pro female street luger, Pamela Zoolalian. The designer, a rebel in her own right, made a name for herself by beating men at their own game in competition at the X-Games and Gravity Games; later going on to be featured in a plethora of top international magazines, television programs and commercials. Zoolalian has parlayed her extreme sports lifestyle expertise into a successful career in fashion design, and has delivered 20 to 25 tightly designed graphics to set the tone for Filip's confrontational new line.

ContraBrand is expected to make an iconic statement at ASR. The brand will be available online at www.getcontrabrand.com beginning in fall of 2009.

ContraBrand by Andre Filip is a rebellious new action sports brand, featuring young men's and juniors urban clothing. The label's statement-making designs cater to the surf, skate, snow and motocross lifestyle – youth who are tired of the mainstream and looking for something different.
