The winds of change are blowing across the whole globe, more so, due to the economic turmoil and the resultant recessionary trends prevailing in markets worldwide. The markets of the Middle East are no exception.
After years of conspicuous spending on high value products, the crisis has brought in a big change in buying behaviour and products which bring value to the table are the ones which may attract the attention of consumers here.
These winds of change are also expected to alter the profile of the textile and clothing industry players as consumers seek more and more value for the money that they spend. This startling fact was brought to the fore by the show manager of Motexha.
Motexha, is the single largest textiles, apparels, leather and fashion accessories trade show, scheduled to begin from April 7 at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre. According to Mr Meltz, only those suppliers will succeed who can break through tough market conditions, with quality at the right price.
Mr Meltz added by saying that regional outlets are laying emphasis on value buying and intend to use Motexha as a stepping stone, which is at their doorstep, rather than flying in to Asia and Europe to source, which is far more costly.
According to Mr Meltz, the profile of the exhibitors has undergone a vast sea change. While in the earlier days, the expo space was dominated by companies from China and Turkey, this year they are going to have a wider representation from different countries.
This year, countries like India, Indonesia, Italy and Thailand are expected to participate in a big way, with Italy and Thailand expected to put up the biggest pavilions ever put up by these countries till date at Motexha.
The organizers of the show have introduced from this year a Lingerie & Swimwear Zone which is anticipated to attract major global swimwear brands in a bid to introduce them to the markets of the Middle East.
