In honor of International Corporate Philanthropy Day, Jo-Ann Stores Inc announces that the company donated $656,000 in cash and products to non-profit organizations in 2008. Additionally, Jo-Ann customers and Team Members again displayed their generosity, donating through individual contributions and company-sponsored fundraisers, bringing total 2008 giving to more than $767,000.

"We are pleased to be able to make a difference in our communities," said Darrell Webb, chief executive officer. "Our support last year helped educate the public about heart disease, provide supplies to teachers and help families cope with childhood illnesses."

Examples of 2008 giving include:
• Health and Human Services - The American Heart Association is one of the most significant recipients of Jo-Ann giving. In 2008, it is estimated that the company and its customers provided more than $100,000 to the AHA and various Start! Heart Walk campaigns.

• Education - Supporting education continues to be a focus for Jo-Ann as $25,000 went to sponsor the Kids In Need Foundation's Teacher Grant program. Jo-Ann also rewarded hundreds of teachers through its annual Teacher Appreciation Day and product donations for the Kids In Need Resource Centers throughout the country.

Jo-Ann also supported philanthropic initiatives through monetary and merchandise donations to organizations such as Ronald McDonald House Charities, Goodwill Industries International, Inc. and United Way of America. "We continue to be amazed at our Team Members' dedication to give back to their communities," said Webb.

Upcoming Support:
Despite the current economic conditions, Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores will continue to support and grow its corporate giving program in the communities in which it operates.
