Exports of garments to Taiwan witness awesome growth

Due to the global economic crisis, Vietnam's textile and garment exports to almost all major markets suffered a decline; however a reverse trend was witnessed in the markets of Taiwan, which have delivered excellent growth rates.
During January, exports turnover to Taiwan reached US$28.4 million, a remarkable growth of 120 percent over the same period last year. The main point to be noted is that this growth has come at the most difficult time.
Key products shipped and which garnered good growth rates in the process during the period include elastic shirt, trousers, fabrics, etc. Exports of elastic shirt rose by 281 percent y-o-y, to touch $2.7 million.
Shipments of trousers amounted to $3.8 million, up by 188 percent and fabric also toted up excellent figures by growing by an awesome 118 percent. Even with regards to export price most of the products witnessed a hike, when compared with January 2008.
