Apparel industry gains positive momentum

Vietnam has one of the fastest growing economies of the South-East Asian countries. Domestic apparel market is valued to be around $4.5 billion USD with a projected growth rate of 15% per annum. The market is expected to boom and reach a value of $6 billion USD by 2010.

Apparel market of the country is more export oriented, with branded apparel rising simultaneously. Notable fashion brands such as Giordano, D&G, Gucci, Mango, Bossini and Valentino have established successfully in the Vietnam market with good response from consumers.

Apparel industry is the second largest employment generator in Vietnam. The country is a low cost apparel supplier to countries like EU. With successful options regarding free trade, Vietnam will become a big apparel hub for US.

Today, Vietnam is on the radar screen of the global apparel market, having the focus of many international brands. It is also being considered as a global export power house.
