Navy to procure additional 'DRIFIRE' flame resistant garments

DRIFIRE, LLC President and Chief Executive Officer L. Gene Cone announced that the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) significantly expanded its authorization for Naval Aviation Commands, including Marine Aviation Commands, to procure a greater variety of DRIFIRE garments through open purchase or through GSA.

The DRIFIRE Performance and Flame Resistant Uniforms that have received approval to date include the company's silk-weight T-shirts and silk-weight boxer shorts, both of which were previously authorized for purchase last August, as well as the addition of silkweight long sleeve T-shirts, silk-weight long pants, mid-weight T-shirts, mid-weight long sleeve T-shirts, and mid-weight long pants.

Established in 1966, NAVAIR is the successor of the Navy's Bureau of Naval Weapons. An integral part of the United States Navy, NAVAIR provides materiel support for naval aircraft and airborne weapon systems. The organization estimates some 24,000 pilots and support personnel such as re-fuelers, gunmen, and navigators, will be the primary potential adopters of the approved and authorized-for-purchase DRIFIRE flame resistant apparel.
