True Religion Apparel Inc announced that it has signed a new licensing agreement with United Legwear Company, LLC, to manufacture and distribute True Religion branded legwear, which will include men's, women's and children's socks, leggings and tights.

True Religion branded legwear will make its debut at the Las Vegas Project Show in September 2009, with nationwide roll-out shortly thereafter to True Religion branded stores and wholesale retail partners including major department stores and specialty store retailers. Additionally, United Legwear Company is planning an international rollout to select markets in North America, Europe and Asia.

“We are excited to partner with United Legwear Company to launch True Religion branded legwear, which we believe represents a natural extension of the True Religion Apparel product offering,” said Jeffrey Lubell, chairman, chief executive officer and chief merchant of True Religion Apparel.

“United Legwear Company's designers excel in identifying the latest in emerging trends and fashions, while understanding and maintaining the essence of our brand. We look forward to working closely with them to leverage their expertise in trend-setting fabrics and concepts to deliver a line consisting of casual socks, athletic socks, tube socks, tights, and leggings for men, women and children that reflects the quality and innovation consumers have come to expect from True Religion Brand Jeans.”

“Extending our licensing platform continues to be a core component of our product diversification strategy,” said Michael Buckley, president of True Religion Apparel. “As we move towards our long-term goal of 50-60% sales contribution from jeans and 40-50% sales contribution from sportswear, we will seek to establish partnerships with licensees that hold expertise in categories that are complementary to our existing product offering. In doing so, we believe we can expand our product mix with minimal infrastructure investment and contribute to the future profitable growth of the Company.”

United Legwear Company, LLC, founded by its President Isaac E. Ash, is a leading global manufacturer of socks and underwear located in the heart of New York City with distribution centers in New Jersey and California. From toddlers to teens and adults, United Legwear Company offers a full range of technologically advanced functional and fashionable products.

The company aims to build price right, quality products for all distribution segments in the US and through global distribution partners. United Legwear Company is a proud licensee of Puma, Cynthia Rowley and Skechers, which are distributed through upscale department stores, including Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale's, Nordstrom, and specialty retailers and boutiques.

“I am thrilled to work with True Religion Apparel and leverage our expertise to help translate the essence of the True Religion brand into the legwear category,” said Isaac Ash, President and CEO of United Legwear Company, LLC. “True Religion legwear will be an extension of what True Religion represents – fashion, quality and superior product – everything that United Legwear Company stands for.”
