Look around you. A new kind of woman has emerged. She fights against apathy, boredom and bad taste. She makes swift adept split-second decisions. The Sakhi Spring collection 09 combines courageous design with superior fabrics to deliver laudable style for the woman of today.

The collection embodies elegance effortlessly with a variety of exclusive designs to choose from the extensive platter of creations. Designer Chandra of Sakhi was inspired by the changing hues of flora and fauna this spring. The transition from summer to winter brings with it myriad changes in all elements of nature around us, from the foliage change from amber to green are found captured in our extensive range. The collection promises to make a statement for all occasions with its ravishing detailing to superior design elements.

Cut work is a Sakhi specialty which finds expression in an array of fabrics. Cut work is a form of art that embodies delicate lace-like embroidery involving intricate hand work and a keen eye for precision.

The Sakhi SS - 09 collection re-invents cut work technique by fusing different fabrics using appliqué technique. For evening attire, bold fusions woven together by intricate cut work, a fine form of hand embroidery is a sure must have for this season.

For casual occasions, the collection also exhibits an array of light Tussar silks sarees in muted salmon pink, toned down turquoise & burnt mustard. These sarees feature Benarsi brocade appliqué cut work in an interesting bold motif placement design, wherein one motif features near the neck, a few near the pleats and elaborate step pallu featuring the cut work will surely make a woman ooze with confidence.

The day wear collection boosts soft textures like chiffons, crepe, handloom cottons with silk borders all in a muted palette of softly-diffused colour contrasts create subtle glamour. The colours used in this collection diffuse from a vibrant range. Detailing include hand-block prints, defined borders like multi-hued tissue edging; crush tissues to increase the glam quotient to the collection.

Sakhi's all time favourite is the superior silk fabric Kanchivaram. This collection throws light on these glorious motifs which are brought to life by the gifted hands of artisans. Exclusive to this bridal collection are the glorious motifs in fiery colours with a contemporary twist. This season, one can find a mélange of vibrant colours coming together in interesting concepts like the partly pallu, wherein the pleats, pallu, the body of the saree and blouse are demarcated by contrast in colour and design adding vibrancy to the muted colours of the palette.

To compliment a delicate sari for that special occasion is the exclusive season special jeweled Kundan work tailored kanchivaram silk blouses in a sovereign colour palette ranging from bottle green to deep maroons. One can find these in traditional form or in a modern avatar as designer halters & tubes.

The launch of Sakhi's latest collection is an occasion to fall in love with elegant pure silks embellished with contemporary motifs, intricate embroidery and cut work. Pamper your artistic side with stunning mirror work; intricate zari cut work and kalamkari art work. Stimulate your imagination with 'concept sarees' like the 'rising design' saree and the 'partly pallav' saree.
