Chinese fakes of 'Made in India' clothing found in Nigeria

It has been found that Chinese textile and clothing manufacturers are selling products with fake 'Made in India' labels in Nigeria. This revelation has come back to back on news of Chinese pharmaceutical manufacturers selling fake 'Made in India' medicines.
The Textile Ministry in India has requested the requested the Commerce Ministry to take up the issue with relevant authorities in Nigeria and China through diplomatic channels and stop this influx of fake textile products in to Nigeria.
According to available statistical data, exports of textiles and apparels from India to Nigeria have fallen by nearly 50 percent. Against shipments of Rs 2.24 billion in 2006-07 it could muster only Rs 1.19 billion worth of textile goods in 2007-08.
