DownEast Basics, known to many shoppers in the West as the place to go for high-style, low-price fashion, officially opened its new store in the Magic Valley Mall in Twin Falls on Friday, July 17.

The fashion retailer, which determines local consumer demand for new locations based on the performance of its mall kiosks, reported that its sales expectations were significantly exceeded for the store's grand opening weekend. Some of the most popular items sold included staples from DownEast's early fall line, including its Center of Attention Dress, Sitting Pretty Top and Composition Skirt.

"We're excited to be in the Magic Valley Mall among top retailers like American Eagle, Aeropostale and Macy's," said Rich Israelsen, chief operating officer for DownEast. "We've operated a mall kiosk there for the last several years and have enjoyed a very high local demand for our styles. When the new, 1,900-square-foot plus retail space became available, it was a logical decision to open in Twin Falls, giving local shoppers greater access to our full product line."

The new Magic Valley Mall store will be DownEast's eighth location in Idaho. The retailer has five additional store locations in Boise, Rexburg, Idaho Falls, and Pocatello, in addition to kiosks at two other retail centers. DownEast plans to continue increasing its retail footprint in Idaho, with plans to open another store in the next 12 months.

The new store is located at the Magic Valley Mall, 1485 East Poleline Road, in Twin Falls, Idaho, and is located next to American Eagle. The store will carry the full DownEast Basics clothing line of everyday basics, fashion tops, dresses, skirts, and denim for women, as well as DownEast's girl's and men's lines. Tamara Ingram, who managed the DownEast kiosk at the Magic Valley Mall for almost three years, will manage the new store's staff of five sales associates.
