Lunabrite illumination incorporates into winning garment at Project OR
Aug '09
Lunabrite a leading solar activated, illumination technology was recently incorporated into the winning garment at Project OR, a 48-hour design competition held at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City, July 21-24.

Lindsey Schuyler, a design student from Florida State University was named the winner of 2009 Project OR. Schuyler designed a jacket called "Femme Fatale" with a flattering, feminine silhouette using components like reusable and recyclable materials with Lunabrite illuminating accents.

Lunabrite's high tech, eco friendly material requires no batteries, wires or electricity and is completely non toxic and weather resistant. It is lightweight, soft, and flexible, easily cuts with scissors and features an attachable edge which makes it simple to be sewn into most fabrics, a definite design plus for the 2009 Project OR competition.

Project OR featured student designers from design programs across the United States. Students were challenged to create a design from initial concept to final prototype for a layering piece that appeals to 18-35 year old active women.

Students were provided a choice of fabrics and design elements, including Lunabrite renewable light product. Each student was challenged to create an innovative outdoor fashion using eco friendly materials that offered functionality and innovation. The contest judges were composed of top designers and industry trendsetters.

According to Lunabrite General Manager Barb Sommer, "We are extremely excited to provide a design option to the winning student designer and Lindsey's garment was leading edge and eco friendly". Sommer added that Lindsey's winning design shows that materials like Lunabrite will change the face of outdoor apparel design and fabrication. "Lindsey's design is innovative and highlights her creativity and appreciation of Lunabrite's light technology and its contribution to the future of fashion apparel", added Sommer.

Lunabrite is a new patent pending illumination technology that activates in minutes with exposure to solar or ambient light then emits illumination from dusk to dawn (8+ hours).
