It is an onset of festive aura in India. Begin of autumn breaks the iceberg to the series of festivals. This aura has transmitted in the industry a hope of prosperity and lot of positive expectations. Looking at present movements in retail market, it seems current times are being looked upon as right moment of sowing in investments to en-cash immediate and future growth. Raymond Ltd, one of leading textile and apparel major announces the launch of 70 TRS(The Raymond Shop)flagship stores across India on October 6, 2009.

With pleasure in a one to one with Fibre2fashion team, narrating the scenario of optimism in retail industry, Mr Anirudh Deshmukh, President Retail and FMCG, Raymond, acknowledges- “We saw a sort of bleat post the downturn which was there a year ago. The industry went through a tough time. But this year, we have seen very strong signs of revival and are fairly hopeful that the season which has just started, should go very well. One can sense the optimism which is all around, both in terms of people getting back into putting up new stores, people getting back into hiring. All of that blends a good deal of confidence to manner which the retail industry is likely to move forward now”

Explaining the objective behind the project in offing and detailing about 'When', 'Where', 'What', and 'How' related to the project, Mr Deshmukh at length divulges, “Actually, we have noticed that even in the face of downturn the non urban market and smaller towns had always remained quite vibrant; so we have embarked major projects to basically set up retail store in smaller towns, that is IV and V tier regions. For example in Gujarat region, we recently have opened or will be opening very shortly stores in places viz Bhuj, Gandhidham, Morvi, Nadiad, Chikhli, Himmatnagar etc. That is the way we are opening our stores and this is all across the country. Our objective is to provide the Raymond experience to customers to shop in environment of good infrastructure like good lightings, well aired-air condition, and good merchandising. Thus facilitating new experience and replacing old cumbersome buying process. That is the whole objective and rationale about. Besides Gujarat, we are to go all over the country in the similar IV & V tier places like what I named above. To list a few Tamilnadu, Rajasthan, and West Bengal etc are the states wherein we are likely to open 65 to 70 stores within one or one and half month.”

About the products on offering, Mr Deshmukh describes, “These outlets will have products in shirtings, suitings, and readymade brands from Raymond like Park Avenue, Colorplus, Parx and others.”

“Is there anything for our women and children consumers too?” we inquired out of curiosity. He replied, “As we are mainly in menswear, these outlets would cater men's clothing needs. We do have womenswear and childrenwear too but they would be offered only in larger towns.”
