Other Jockey Firsts The invention of the brief is just one of many Jockey "firsts."
In 1938, Coopers (now Jockey) hosted the first underwear fashion show featuring the "Cellophane Wedding." For this unique show, underwear models were swathed in cellophane to promote Jockey's cellophane packaging -- an industry first -- and to skirt decency laws.
In 1959, Jockey Skants bikini briefs were unveiled, considered the first bikini-style men's underwear sold in the U.S.
In 1963, Jockey developed underwear for N.A.S.A.'s Apollo program that included a very unusual feature -- elastic bands on the cuffs that looped around the astronauts' palms for use in zero gravity.
Over the next few months, Jockey will celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Brief, through contests and other consumer engagement activities. More information on these activities can be found on Jockey's Facebook page and Jockey's Twitter account.
