While many cities are currently faced with retail and business closures as a result of the national recession, the City of Paramount is proud to announce that T.J. Maxx, the country's largest off-price retailer of apparel and home fashions, will open a brand new store within the City on Sunday, October 4th.Grand opening hours are 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Mayor Diane J. Martinez, Vice Mayor Tom Hansen and City Council members Gene Daniels and Daryl Hofmeyer will be attending the grand opening. The grand opening is free and will be open to the public. Regular store hours will be 9:30 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 11:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday. The 23,441-square-foot store is located in the Paramount Plaza Shopping Center at 15719 Downey Avenue.

To complete the project, the City of Paramount worked closely with property owners Red Mountain Retail Group, a leading Southern California-based commercial real estate developer specializing in retail and mixed-use real estate, to enhance and upgrade the center with the goal of attracting a major tenant.

“Paramount's Commercial Rehabilitation Program, which provides developers and property owners with attractive financial incentives to make capital improvements, has a fantastic track record for attracting top-tier businesses to Paramount. Working alongside Red Mountain to secure T.J. Maxx has been a great achievement,” commented Diane J. Martinez, mayor of the City of Paramount.

“The $4 million remodel along with our collaborative efforts to make this property attractive to national retailers resulted in a 'win-win' situation for the City, our firm and the residents of Paramount. We look forward to continuing to serve the community with exciting shopping choices,” said Eric Nelson, Vice President of Entitlements for Red Mountain Retail Group. Other tenants in the Paramount Plaza Shopping Center include Fresh and Easy, Rite Aid and Kragen Auto Parts.

The addition of T.J. Maxx to Paramount's roster of local employers is also a boon to the community. T.J. Maxx hired 125 employees, with 77 of them Paramount residents. There are full-time and many part-time positions ranging from shipping and receiving to cashiers, virtually every position in the store.
