No-one can create anarchy in garment sector, says PM

Punitive actions will be taken by the government against anyone responsible for creating unrest in the garment sector, whether it is the workers or the owners, said the Prime Minister Ms. Sheikh Hasina.

She was speaking at the inaugural function of 20th BATEXPO-09, organized for 3-days, in the capital of the country. In order to catch the culprits responsible for the violence in the sector, investigations would be undertaken by the government, she added.

It has been noticed that the chaos are being created in the ready-made garments sector of the country and the government will not let the culprits to generate more chaos, said the PM.

She ordered the owners in the sector to undertake welfare activities for the workers and also asked Finance Minister Mr. AMA Muhith to take efficient steps to rehabilitate 270 sick industries in this sector.

An industrial police force and an intelligence unit would be set up by the government as a remedial measure for the industrial sector, she mentioned.
