In an in-house design contest, held at the Istanbul Technical University's (ITÜ) department of textile technology, a modified version of the kaftan, the traditional garb of the Ottoman sultans, has been chosen as the winner by the famous designer Mr. Tommy Hilfiger.
Mr. Hilfiger, who found it difficult to select an overall winner, chose this 'Timeless Allure' design as a winner among eight finalists. The famous designer underlined that he noticed discipline, teamwork, professionalism and talented academics behind the successful designs in the competition.
The winner who examined many kaftan models on display to create a modified design of the kaftan was offered a three-month's internship, at the offices of Tommy Hilfiger in Amsterdam, as a prize. The famous designer stated that he is interested in working with young, intelligent and smart brains as it advances the value of the brand. The designer himself started working at the age of 18 and worked very hard to materialize his dreams.
