Belinda Earl joins AlexandAlexa as Non-Executive Chairman

AlexandAlexa has appointed Belinda Earl as its new Non-Executive Chairman as part of a major strategic launch for Autumn/Winter 2009. The appointment follows a significant investment from a UK bank consortium and a strategic investor from the Middle East. AlexandAlexa has expanded its board and management team with two further appointments: Robert Dighero (ex CFO of QXL ricardo and AOL UK) becomes Non-Executive Director and Carrick Whitney (ex Head of Strategy & Planning at NET-A-PORTER.COM) will join for six months as a Senior Strategy Consultant to lead the business expansion strategy.

One of the leading global online children's wear retailers in the UK, AlexandAlexa has secured five further luxury children's wear brands for Autumn/Winter '09, launching John Galliano, Calvin Klein, Hackett, Juicy Couture and Mayoral. Secured for Spring/Summer 2010 are Chloe, DKNY, Hugo Boss, Fendi and Little Marc Jacobs, a dream line-up totalling over 40 brands offered for online retail across the globe.

AlexandAlexa. is experiencing a record-breaking year. In the nine months to end of September 2009, turnover was 155% ahead of the previous year, average basket value was 24% ahead and the active subscriber base was six times the size. CEO and Founder, Alex Theophanous states: “We believe that our luxury proposition continues to be the core to our success, and we are actively working on more exciting developments for the first half of next year”.

Belinda Earl, the Chief Executive of Jaeger and Aquascutum, joins AlexandAlexa.com as Non-Executive Chairman with immediate effect. “I am delighted to be joining the board of AlexandAlexa and I look forward to working with the team to develop the growth strategy of this exciting online venture.”

Following our recent fundraising, we aim to expand significantly the business both in the UK and internationally.
