Brand acceptance only through exclusive outlets – Director, Turtle

Targeted at the young urban professionals, the brand Turtle addresses and brings out a different side of one's personality and its range encompasses a range of Trousers, T-shirts, Suits, Blazers, Denims, ties, cufflinks, wallets, belts, socks, inner wear handkerchiefs, nightwears, traveling kit, document bag, laptop bag, key rings etc.

In 400 cities across the country, people have discovered Turtle. From a modest beginning, it is now a brand to be experienced at 40 Exclusive Turtle World stores and over 800 other leading outlets including Brand Factory, Central, Globus, Lifestyle, Pantaloons & Shopper's Stop and at over 1,000 multi-brand outlets in 400 Indian cities.

As any good corporate citizen, Turtle has a responsibility to the society, which they fulfill through courage, ingenuity, vision & professional service of the highest standard. Turtle plays an important role in saving the turtles in Orissa. Every time one buys a Turtle product, the customer contributes to the Wildlife Society of Orissa and currently Turtle is involved in two conservation projects for freshwater & marine turtles.

Fibre2fashion took the opportunity to speak exclusively to Mr Amit Ladsaria, Director, Turtle Ltd, who is a first generation entrepreneur and also one of the founders of the organisation, which within a short period of time has been able to find a toehold in the fiercely competitive Indian apparel retail markets, along with a pan-India presence to boot.

We began by asking him us to reveal the reasons for the remarkable growth achieved in such a short span of time, to which he said, “Turtle from the beginning has focused on distribution. We opened our first store in Kolkatta way back on 18th October, 2000, but eventually we have felt that despite our presence in multi-brand outlets, the brand image, customer acceptance and confidence can only be achieved through exclusive outlets and presently we have 40 exclusive outlets across India, which has been able to give an additional boost to our brand image, which has led to the brand gaining confidence among customers”.

Next we asked him the reason for apparel brands aligning with big retailers to which he explained, “Association with big retailers gives us an edge over our competitors in terms of sale, better penetration across India and brand image. Big retailers who are mostly chain stores provide a better platform to our brands, due to the high number of footfalls which these stores generate, along with which, at one go, we are assured of a pan-India presence”.
