Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) wants minimum six months ban on cotton yarn export, said Mr. Bilal Mulla, Acting Chairman, PRGMEA in a press statement.

Contribution of Pakistan in the global clothing markets stood at just one percent, while in yarn exports, its share was around 30 percent, which signifies that the country extensively exports raw material whereas other countries prefer to export finished products.

Unavailability of cotton yarn would hit the textile sector hard, along with squeezing the exports of value-added textiles. This will ultimately affect the textile export target of $25 billion for 2014, he concluded by saying.
