Pacific Brands to close another factory

16 Feb '10
1 min read

A formal notice of factory closure within six weeks has been released by the Bonds factory at Unanderra in southern Wollongong. Around 200 clothing workers of the factory have received this notice.

The workers will not lose their long service leave entitlements as they have six-week time to secure another job. Pacific Brands had announced its plans to lay off 1,850 workers at all plants across Australia, last year in February.

The final notice of factory closure offered relief to a number of employees, said the state Secretary, Textile Clothing and Footwear Union Mr. Barry Tubner, as the interminable waiting period was finally over.
