Joseph Abboud to promote American-made suits

At this year's 82nd annual Academy Awards on March 7, 2010, Danny Glover and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) will organize a Red Carpet Boycott of all Hugo Boss fashion products in response to the German holding company, Permira Advisors', decision to close the Hugo Boss factory in Brooklyn, Ohio. 300+ men and women stand to lose their jobs as early as April 1st, 2010.

Joseph Abboud, has successfully owned and operated its own American men's suiting factory in New Bedford, MA since 1986, is taking a vocal position.

According to Marty Staff, President and CEO of JA Apparel Corp, the parent company for Joseph Abboud, "We are proud to be Made in America. Our factory in New Bedford, Massachusetts has been and will always be the heartbeat of our company. It is an invaluable asset. For more than 25 years, we have supported and embraced our New Bedford population, and this will continue in the years to come. The benefit is high quality garments produced for, and sold in, the very best stores in America and abroad."

Since having purchased the New Bedford factory in 1986, Joseph Abboud has continued to invest heavily in labor and manufacturing improvements. Currently, the factory employs 500+ "Unite Here!" union workers and manufactures 250,000+ suiting units per year. This year alone, significant investments in the latest manufacturing technology have resulted in faster, more responsive lead times. The New Bedford factory can now manufacture Joseph Abboud made-to-measure suiting in 5 days.

Many star athletes and celebrities have benefited from these short turnaround times. Fans include:

• Tracy Morgan, who wore custom Joseph Abboud made-to-measure tuxedos to the SAG, Critics Choice and Golden Globe Awards.
• NBA Head coaches, players and Legends, including Walt "Clyde" Frazer, John Starks, Allan Houston and Cal Ramsey.
• NFL Head coaches.
• Fox Sports and CBS Sports television presenters.
