Alongside the launch of benchmarking exercises' with regards to the textile and clothing industry at Esibayeni Lodge, a certificate of excellence was awarded to Fashion International (Pty) Ltd, which proved itself to be the best performer in domestic textile industry, by leaving behind other 11 participants.
Other participants were, Ample Clothing & Apparel (Pty) Ltd (Matsanjeni), Juris Manufacturing (Pty) Ltd, FTM Garments (Pty) Ltd, HO's Enterprises (Pty) Ltd (Nhlangano), Far East Textiles (Pty) Ltd, The Great Spring (Pty) Ltd (Matsapha) and others, all of whom were awarded participation certificates.
According to Phiwayinkhosi Ginindza, Chief Executive Officer, Swaziland Investment Promotion Authority (SIPA), the consultants who were employed by TechnoServe for carrying out the benchmarking exercise were internationally noted experts of apparel manufacturing industry, who over last 25 years, have evaluated and conducted training programmes at many factories in Asia, Europe and in various parts of Africa.
He stated that, in normal circumstances if the factories were to hire such expert consultants to assess and guide them on how to enhance performance at their factories, they would have been required to spend a big amount but, TechnoServe has extended this service to them for no cost.
A firm recommendation came from Ginindza's side that, in order to gain complete advantage of the exercise, the factories who participated in the exercise should first study their respective reports and only then implement the recommendations laid down there under in their factories.
He also exhorted the other factories which have yet not joined the exercise, to join.
