It is expected that, China will provide duty-free access to Bangladesh manufactured clothing by July, with the only obstacle being China's strict rules of origin, which the exporters expect their government to sort out at diplomatic levels.
Although Bangladesh is one of the key competitor's of China in overseas markets and as of date is the number two global exporter of apparels, this policy measure will open up one more opportunity for the low-cost clothing manufacturers.
The only stumbling block is the 'rules of origin', since the Bangladesh garment sector imports a huge volume of raw materials and auxiliary materials from across the world, including from China.
