Khadder, the hand-woven brand of Aarja Apparel Company (AAC) has reappeared into the retail format after giving a try in institutional sales. AAC recently opened its first concept store for Khadder at City Centre II in Kolkata.
This concept store will showcase a number of handmade, green and eco-friendly natural apparel, linen, stationary and furniture, informed Mr. Arup Datta, Co-founder, Khadder. Growing losses forced the company to quite the retail business and endeavor in institutional segment in 2008-09, he said.
During this period the company was reviewing its exiting strategies and taking steps to ramp up its marketing and sales skills. Following this, AAC again forayed into retail segment, added Mr. Datta.
This store will prove to be the stepping stone for creating the Handloom Heritage Store which can generate remarkable potential in the country. The company intends to open a heritage store in Kolkata or Bangalore on an area of 7,500-8,000 sq. ft, stated Mr. Datta.
The Khadder co-founder was speaking after the launch of second store in Kolkata. The company had opened its first store in the Hindustan Park area, last December.
