Children's clothing manufacturers of South Africa witnessed sales growth during last year. But, as per the industry experts, closure of local clothing and textile manufacturing mills will keep on troubling the industry.
The EarthChild clothing group witnessed a sales increase by 28 percent and the overall business of the group mounted up by 61 percent, informed the Managing Director of the company, Mr. Jonathan Katz. 2009 was a good year for the group in terms of sales, he added.
The products' range of the group includes clothing from newborn babies to eight year-old kids. A majority of these products are made from organic cotton. At present, it has 15 stores across the country and intends to augment this number to 40 by next three years. These stores are housed in established shopping centres.
Supply chain management, growth of production volumes, maintaining delivery deadlines and quality control are the major challenges for the group, added Mr. Katz. Moreover, it's quite tedious to find prime locations in South Africa to set up retail stores.
Mr. Katz further said that he aims to undergo expansion in international markets as international retail market has vast opportunity for fashion brands.
