The China Garment Association and the China Electronic Commerce Association have jointly issued a written warning, prohibiting online trade of used foreign apparel and advised consumers to maintain high vigilance on purchase of used foreign clothing.
China's online shopping has sustained rapid development in recent years. Apparel commodities are favored by consumers, accounting for 12.8 percent of online shopping transactions last year and trade volume is expected to reach more than 30 billion Yuan this year.
As a result, unscrupulous operators sell used foreign clothing through online stores, which are smuggled in to the country.
The statement says that, they will jointly monitor these used clothing online stores and conduct comprehensive review and keep tabs on apparel merchandise to keep a check on trade of used foreign clothing.
In addition, they will in a timely manner, attend to complaints from consumers and will take measures in accordance with laws and report to relevant government departments after investigation and verification.
