Keeping a tab on weeks of labour strife going on in Bangladesh for minimum wages, Gildan Activewear Inc. announced that, it would augment wages at its apparel factory.
Gildan's spokesperson stated that, workers who were earning an average wage of $65 a day have not partaken in the agitation. More so, the company's factory near Dhaka was operating smoothly.
Apparel workers in Bangladesh, who are amongst some of the least paid the world-over, came to blows with police over the weekend, as the government consented to hike the minimum wages from $24 to $43 per month.
