Best Small Stand Award goes to Maquien Design
Aug '10
Bacon rolls, coffee and awards were served up at the BETA Trade Breakfast during the Festival of British Eventing, at Gatcombe Park, where the British Equestrian Trade Association was presenting sponsor for the fifth consecutive year. Companies judged to have the best tradestands – in large and small categories – were presented with their BETA awards by Captain Mark Phillips and his son, Peter Phillips.

Fine art dealer and publisher Collier & Dobson won the Best Large Stand Award, with Horses in Sport, retailer of equipment for the competition rider, named runner-up.

The Best Small Stand Award was presented to clothing company Maquien Design, with online retailer Nomad Ideas, a specialist in kilim shoes and soft furnishings, named runner-up.

Winners were chosen following a series of incognito visits to all the stands. The final selection was based on the stands' layout, how attractive they looked, the variety of goods on offer and how welcoming and knowledgeable staff were.

“The trade breakfast is always a high point at Gatcombe and the Best Stand Awards are eagerly anticipated,” said BETA executive director Claire Williams. “Choosing the winner is never an easy task, because all the stand-holders make a tremendous effort – but, with our secret shoppers in place, the clear winners are eventually revealed. Congratulations to them all!”
,Br> BETA International has been run by the trade for the trade for more than 30 years. It is organised by Equestrian Management Consultants (EMC) – a wholly owned subsidiary of the British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA).
