Govt plans meeting before Eid on new wage structure

The government proposes to convene a meeting with the readymade garment (RMG) factory owners to mull over the issue of executing the new wage structure for the industry before the sacred festival of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Labour and Employment Minister Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain divulged the same during an inter-ministerial meeting held at the Ministry's conference room and which he presided over.
The meeting which got into considering the situation of the RMG sector in general, stressed on ensuring that the wages and bonus to RMG workers are paid before Eid-ul-Fitr.
Even the issues regarding curbing any of the attempts to spark up any disorder or mayhem in the RMG sector, were considered at the meet.
Those participating in the meet here stated that, the government in this relation should continuously keep in touch with the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exports Association (BGMEA) and Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exports Association (BKMEA).
