Russian clothing market revs up

The year 2009 was quite better in comparison to 2008 for the clothing, accessories and footwear sector in Russia, when the global economic slowdown unfolded mainly due to the financial crisis in the developed countries, says a report tabled by PMR, a research and consulting firm.
Optimism for 2010 too is less; however, the tables are expected to turn in favour of the sector in 2011. The clothing, footwear and accessories market in Russia rose by 5 percent in 2009, to touch Ru 1,525 billion (US $48.1 billion).
The clothing sector was the forerunner amongst the three sectors in 2009 and increased considerably in value, when compared with figures achieved in 2008.
