Greater Boston to have more Five Below stores

Five Below, the leading retailer of extreme-value merchandise for teens and pre-teens, announced its expansion in Greater Boston with the addition of three new stores. The new stores, located in Mansfield, Natick, and Stoughton, Mass., will open on Sept. 10.
Five Below, which already has five stores in the Boston market and 13 in the New England region, is in the midst of a New England expansion. Earlier this summer, the retailer opened its first Rhode Island location, and will follow with two more in the state later this month. And by year-end 2011, Five Below plans to add another five to 10 stores throughout New England.
“We're always looking for opportunities to open new stores, particularly in areas with a large population of families and a strong sense of community,” says David Schlessinger, co-founder and executive chairman for Five Below. “Boston, and more broadly New England, have a history of treating discount retailers well—Five Below not excluded. We've had our eye on these three cities for a while, and were fortunate to take advantage of great real estate within our target store size of 7,000 -10,000 square feet to bring our expansion plans to fruition.”
Five Below offers a wide variety of merchandise in cosmetics and fashion accessories, sports and workout gear, hit DVDs, video games, iPhone accessories, and more.
“Our three current Boston-area stores, which are all located north of the city, have been well-received,” says Tom Vellios, CEO and co-founder. “We're excited for this opportunity to extend our reach southward, and give an even broader expanse of value-minded consumers access to our line-up of merchandise. We have no doubt these stores will be met with enthusiasm and success.”
The new Boston-area stores are located in:
• Mansfield Crossing at 280 School Street in Mansfield
• Sherwood Plaza at 1324 Worchester Street in Natick
• RK Plaza at 1334 Park Street in Stoughton
Five Below is open seven days a week. Store hours are: Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. – 9 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
With the introduction of these three new stores, Five Below will operate 124 stores in 13 states primarily on the East Coast. The retailer plans to open an additional 20 stores this fall and expand its reach into three new regions, including upstate New York; Columbus, Ohio; and North Carolina.
