Postie sales up; Schooltex is to be expanded with PPGL

"This investment includes a programme of 45 postie stores in 2010-11; this will be a combination of complete refits through to logo changes to the new fresh 'white on red' Postie logo successfully introduced in the 2010 year

This works programme follows the 'refresh' of selected stores in the 2010 year where the results from the improvements exceeded expectations.

"Part of this objective has seen both Postie and Babycity re-open in Invercargill in August showing a new look for both brands and the reopening of the flagship Lynnmall store in Auckland earlier this month following a major refit for both Postie and Babycity has also been pleasing.

"These changes will ensure that Postie makes a high impact transition to a more contemporary look, matched internally by customer-oriented product presentation."

The next new store fit-outs will commence in October at Gisborne, Rolleston, and Lower Hutt. By March 2011 further fit-outs should be completed at Chartwell, Hamilton and Rotorua.

Babycity will open a stand-alone store in Lower Hutt this year and will continue to introduce new brands to the New Zealand market with an extended product range.

Mr Boskell added that the present Schooltex uniforms business is to be expanded with PPGL announcing the purchase of Auckland-based school uniform provider Uniforms Plus which supplies in excess of 55 Auckland based schools. The current management of the business will be retained to ensure continuity and to engage in expanding the Auckland market further.

The group's uniforms business is to comprise a new entity trading as Uniform Solutions. This will include school uniforms, sports uniforms under the label LEGENDZ and corporate uniforms.

Further to this; PPGL is pleased to announce that following a successful tender, LEGENDZ will be the official sponsor for New Zealand Bowls' teams competing at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in India; the contract will see postie stores around New Zealand as the preferred supplier for white wear apparel encompassing all New Zealand bowling clubs from December 2010.

"From a current trading perspective, most would be aware that recently we have seen disruption to parts of New Zealand by the Christchurch earthquake, the flooding through the North Island and the Invercargill snow. It is important to recognise that each of these events have seen a slowing of the retail spend"

Despite this, the refurbishment of stores, the high levels of energy amongst staff and the excellent product in store, enable us to look positively forward to the 2011 year.
