Eco-friendly, material and energy-efficient garment production, provides the country an advantage over competition in spite of the loss of European trade privileges.

Sri Lanka continues to be a vital supplier for many global clothing and accessories and is also expected to continue, to do so in the future.

The benchmark set in the Sri Lankan apparel industry is too good and the industry is known for its skills. The apparel industry will continue to operate and supply according to its set standards. Most of the retailers have enjoyed this for several years.

The country had lost the European Union's Generalized System of Preferences (GSP+) levy free access due to the breach of international conventions connected with civil and human rights of its citizens.
