Sportswear firm Descente to start Singapore unit

Descente Ltd, the sportswear manufacturer, is expected to set up a sales unit in Singapore, with an investment of 100 million yens, in the early part of December. This will be a step to expandg in the rapidly growing South-east Asian economy. The company is based in Osaka and its unit in Singapore – Singapore Descente Pvt Ltd will be completely owned by the company's sales wing Hong Kong Descente Trading Ltd.
The unit is expected to be operational from March, 2011. In its initial year, the unit is expected to achieve a sales target of around 130 million yen through the sales of sportswear and other products in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
