Textile and garment producers and suppliers from HCM City are quite buoyant about the present business scenario in the preceding the launch of a mega industrial expo in the City on October 27.

Garment exports are likely to go up by 15 percent this year, and are seen to touch US $20 billion through 2020.

The country generated around $5.87 billion from garment exports in the initial seven months of current year, which is 17.4 percent above the exports registered during corresponding period last year.

These figures seem to be quite promising while viewed in consideration of the 10th Vietnam International Textile and Garments Industry Exhibition to take place at the Sai Gon Exhibition and Convention Centre spread on an area of 9,000 sq. m.

Over 16,000 local as well as foreign visitors are likely to visit the expo, with 230 companies participating in it.

There would be various events at the expo like two fashion shows each day, showcasing garments of brands like CK, Diesel and Levi, for the initial three days. Also there would be a seminar on trends, techniques and technologies, coordinated by the Association of Garments, Textiles, Embroidery and Knitting.

Further, an Indian textile major, Birla Cellulose, which is partaking in the event for the first time, would display products which are biodegradable and sustainable.
