Following the failure of the British Menswear Guild (BMG) to enhance its membership, it is now expected to become a part of the UK Fashion & Textile Association (UKFT).
The UKFT is likely to acquire the operations of the BMG at one of the Italian mainstream menswear trade expo 'Pitti Uomo' in January, 2011.
David Challinor – the director of BMG is going to retire by the close of the year after serving the menswear trade body for 12 years. He is expected to attend the expo to be held in January in order to ensure a hassle-free transition of the trade body.
Those members of BMG who do not have the membership of UKFT are also likely to be invited to bond with UKFT from 1st January.
During the past eight months the trade body had organized three extremely successful networking events, which were attended by a significant number of participants, but in spite of their success the body has failed in its attempt to increase its membership.
The Guild's day-to-day performance and future ventures are mostly based on its membership and membership fees. Due to the scarcity of funds, the trade body has failed to give assurance of conducting trade events of 2011.
