Chinese silk garment exports down in 2010

China's exports of silk garments realized 65.79 million sets from January to October this year, down 10.1 percent year on year and amounted to US $918 million, down 5 percent year on year.
Average unit price was US $ 13.96 / set, an increase of 5.67 percent year on year. Exports of silk garments accounted for 69.7 percent of China's total exports of manufactured silk goods, 35.42 percent of silk merchandise, 0.87 percent of garment exports.
Exports to major markets fell across the board, with those to Hong Kong falling by 3.89 percent, the smallest drop, and those to UK dipping by 17.82 percent, the largest decline.
The top five export markets of silk garments were United States, Hong Kong, Japan, Italy and United Kingdom.
Exports to the United States stood at 28.56 million sets from January to October, amount was US $385 million, down 10.56 percent and 4.66 percent, respectively, year on year; average unit price was US $ 13.5 / set, an increase of 6.6 percent year on year, the average unit price was slightly higher than the average level of China's global exports. Export volume and amount formed a market share of 43.14 percent and 41.97 percent, respectively.
Exports to Hong Kong were 8.01 million sets, down 3.89 percent year on year and value +touched $87.21 million, an increase of 4.63 percent. The average unit price was $10.89 / set, a rise of 8.86 percent. The average unit price was the lowest among major markets. Volume and value constituted an export market share of 12.17 percent and 9.5 percent, respectively.
Shipments to UK reached 4.23 million sets and amount registered $56.34 million, down 17.82 percent and 24.47 percent, respectively, year on year. The average unit price was US $13.29 / set, down 8.1 percent. Volume and amount to the UK, seized an export market share of 6.44 percent and 6.13 percent, respectively.
