We see an increase ranging between 60 and 123 percent in several markets including the US, Russia, Romania, Kazakhstan, Tunisia and Iran. And these figures point to the fact that together with alternative markets the ready-to-wear clothing exportation will gain more momentum in 2011. These figures relating to the growth in alternative markets proves that cpi proceeds in the right way regarding its target markets.”

Volkan Atik: cpi carries the industry to the future
In his speech, Volkan Atik, CEO of cpi, said that cpi played a key role in opening Turkey to alternative markets, and that Turkey was a bridge of fashion and culture between Europe and the Middle East.

Atik remarked that although Turkey exported ready-to-wear clothing to over 180 countries 80 percent of the exportation on dollar basis went to EU countries.

Drawing attention to the fact that cpi has paved the way for the ready-to-wear industry in an environment where the search for alternative markets continues in the face of the EU market which has narrowed due to several reasons, Atik continued:

“To ensure continuity in exportation it is important to compensate for the tendency of narrowing in the EU markets and to create alternative markets. Turkish companies search heavily for the opportunities both in Russia and CIS and neighbouring countries. As Exporters Unions, we, too, carry on with our efforts and initiatives directed at the Middle East and neighbouring countries as well as Asian and African markets, particularly China.

"We continue with our works to attract purchasing committees from the Middle East, CIS countries and Turkic Republics. The cpi Fair offers an appropriate environment to establish million-dollar business connections with these committees. Apart from market diversification, tendency towards innovative products and manufacturing methods and improvements in the design infrastructure will pave the way for the industry.”

cpi, the new center of attraction for the ready-to-wear and design industry, is supported by leading institutions including Turkish Clothing Manufacturers Association (TGSD), United Brands Association of Turkey (BMD), The Fashion Designers Association of Turkey (MTD), Turkish Fashion and Ready-to-wear Federation, Merter Industrialists and Businessmen Association (MESIAD), Osmanbey Textile Businessmen's Association (OTIAD) and Laleli Industrialists and Businessmen Association (LASIAD).
