TFIA believes that the Australian Government should be aiming for policies which achieve a balance and create fair trade for a sustainable future. Australians have demonstrated repeatedly that they are early adopters of technology. TFIA believes that there is an opportunity to prepare consumers for making sophisticated choices that contribute to a broader agenda - well being for all.

Kellock concludes
"Australian consumers want diversity. There is no question that online business is here to stay and is part of our shopping future. It's exciting and many Australian businesses which pay GST have embraced the opportunity to provide goods and services on-line using leading edge technologies.

However we as consumers also want to be able to unshackle ourselves from the internet and walk down Brunswick Street for example and window shop or purchase goods immediately. We don't want empty malls, department stores or shopping strips. These distribution channels are important for Australian brands and our lifestyle."

TFIA is the peak Australian TCF industry body. It is a member driven non profit association that was first established in the 1940s to provide an umbrella organisation with a focal point for a number of sector specific associations. Today the TFIA represents the whole TCF industry and provides effective and influential representation to Government on TCF issues such as industry, trade, environment, education and training.
