Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, BNP leader and Former Commerce Minister recently said that, a sizeable RMG market is lying ahead on the way of Bangladesh, proper utilisation of which can greatly help the country's economy.
He stated this while speaking at the closing ceremony of the 9th Chittagong Apparel Fabric and Accessories Exposition held at MA Aziz Stadium's Gymnasium Ground in Chittagong in the capacity of the chief guest.
In order to cash in on this opportunity, Bangladesh needs to train its workers and transform them into skilled workers, or else the opportunity may lapse, he said.
He said that the government should either extend monetary support to the garment exporters or should initiate steps for imparting better training to the garment workers on immediate basis. He even claimed that if the BNP forms the government they would definitely initiate steps in this direction and that development is the BNP's main focus and it is the party that is meant for development.
Further, Khosru, who also serves as an adviser to the BNP Chairman Khaleda Zia stated that, the RMG market until recent past used to be a buyer's market, but now it has developed into a seller's market. Till recently the buyers ruled the garment industry but now the sellers preside over the buyers, he said. He further added that, this trend should be continued through formulation of proper guidelines on immediate basis.
