A government official recently stated that, all the government personnels should observe Mondays as Filipiniana Day and should put on uniforms or garments that display a Filipiniana-inspired feeling.
Also, while selecting the office uniforms the government offices should give preference to those tropical fabrics which has a higher percentage of domestic fibres or indigenous materials in their fabric, he added.
This practice would prove beneficial for the fibre industry of the country, the official said.
The Aklan region is an abode for the exclusive and exquisite piña fabric, a loom that the local weavers of the region weave.
Libacao, Madalag, Altavas, Ibajay, Banga and Malinao are the towns in the Aklan province which houses abaca plantations and generated an output of around 998,594 kilograms, last year.
The provincial government of Aklan and the Fiber Industry Development Authority (FIDA) extend their full support to these piña and abaca industries in the country.
