Derby Clothing which currently manages 30 exclusive brand outlets (EBOs) and is also present in a good number of multi brand outlets, is proposing to enter the Indian capital markets via an initial public offering (IPO) by 2014.

Derby, a menswear brand is well-known for its fashion jeans and urban wear collections. The brand is associated with the USP of being exclusive, sporty and energetic.

Derby is now planning to become a global brand by revamping its production process. It plans to have over 1,000 stitching machines and in the process generate employment for around 10,000 people.

Derby also plans to make its two flagship stores, one each in Mumbai and Delhi, operational in fiscal 2011-12.

Speaking to fibre2fashion, Mr Vijay Kapoor, Founder and MD - Derby Clothing said, “We are planning an IPO by 2014. Derby has been in existence since last 16 years, and now over the last one year, we have repositioned the brand as a premium men's urbanwear brand”.

He continued, “We are scheduled to go national by the end of this year and the whole strategy is to make Derby, the first true international brand. The operations too would not be limited to the borders of India, but also have a very strong global presence in all the fashion capitals of the world”.

He added by saying, “Keeping this in mind the entire process has been initiated. Production capacity and the distribution networks have been increased, aided by a strong R&D team. So everything is on a roll and over the next three years, we will definitely be looking at floating an IPO”.
