Chinese clothing exports rise in Feb

In February, China recorded an increase of 9.6 percent in clothing exports compared to the same period last year. During the month, China exported apparels worth US $19.79 billion.

Though the export increased on year to year basis, the growth rate came down significantly compared to the month of January this year.

On the other hand, average export price of clothing items improved significantly barring silk garments. In different varieties, average export price of cotton garment increased 14.1 percent while man-made fiber clothing registered an increase of 15.6 percent on year to year basis.

China exported apparels worth US $3.35 billion to the US in the first two months of this year, registering 5 percent growth, on year to year basis.

Though China's apparel exports to the United States has registered a significant growth rate of more than 15 percent since late last year, it slowed down during the first two months of this year.

China's apparel exports to the European Union stood at US $5.75 billion, an increase of 12.7 percent on year to year basis with a market share of 29 percent.

On the Japanese front, apparel exports were worth US $2.9 billion, witnessing an increase of 17 percent with a 14.7 percent market share.
