“Peru has become a leading textile and clothing producing country”, said Eva Hughes, Editor-in-Chief of the Mexican & Latin American editions of Vogue.

Due to this Peru has been able to attract the attention of global brands who look for high-quality clothing, which in turn is a reflection of the hard work put over the past ten years, she said.

Eva Hughes was speaking at the 2011 Peru Moda and Peru Gift Show held in Lima last week.

Peru is one of those few countries which follow Brazil in promoting the fashion sector in the country.

Designs emanating from Peru stand out because, not only are they wearable, but also because of their innovation and authenticity, she informed the delegates.

She gave an example of the t-shirts worn at the Fashion's Night Out organized by Vogue in USA, which bore 'Made in Peru' tags.
