Odlo, a leader in the segment of functional sports clothing, has entered the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) as its first Swiss company, with an aim to take on environmental responsibility in its entire supply chain, focussing on sustainability. The SAC is the apparel, footwear, and home textile industry’s foremost alliance for sustainable production.

To this end, Odlo will implement the SAC’s sustainability measuring instrument, the Higg Index, which is meant to enable more sustainable decision-making processes in the supply chain.

Andrea Gerber, sustainability manager at Odlo said, “The Higg Index’s holistic approach helps us to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of our sustainability activities and to initiate corresponding measures for improvement. At the same time, we’re a part of a large network within the global textile industry.”

Jason Kibbey, CEO of SAC said, “With Odlo as a part of the Coalition, our influence in the clothing industry is increasing, and the change towards responsible-minded action by the industry is proceeding faster.”

In addition to Odlo, over 170 global brands, retailers, and manufacturers in the SAC, as well as state, non-profit environmental organisations and academic institutions are focusing on the improvement of supply chain sustainability in the clothing and shoe industries. (GK)
